Absolutely! When I was young, I had no confidence. I was the gawky girl that wore glasses. I was so shy that I couldn't play or even speak to other kids. I had one teacher that believed in me. I got my first big break when I was 12. I was cast as the "LEAD" angel for the school play. This was, at the time, the greatest moment in my life. She gave me confidence through a simple gesture that I will remember for the rest of my life. That is what I feel acting/playing does for children, especially those who are shy or lack confidence.

WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THESE CLASSES?
Yes. I have found in the 8 years that I have worked with children that the reason for their shyness comes from a lack of confidence and self esteem. They have a fear that they will get laughed at or made fun of. Through the acting classes and team exercises, they realize that they are in a safe environment to be silly and not have the worry at being teased.
No, however, I will provide them with the tools they will need if the child decides that is what he or she wants to pursue further. This is taught in the Step Up class.
Each child will have a different goal. My job is to realize that goal for them, whether it's overcoming their shyness, building self-esteem or pursuing a career.
